Child's Play Communications, the leading agency specializing in products targeting kids and moms, seeks a Spring 2012 Public Relations Intern 2-3 days per week. Intern will learn the nuts and bolts of traditional media relations in the boutique firm's fun, fast-paced Manhattan office.
Responsibilities will include:
• Coordination of editorial mailings
• Follow-up and phone pitching with newspaper and magazine editors
• Creation and maintenance of print, broadcast and online media lists
• Research and brainstorming
• On-site event support
• Administrative support (i.e. compiling press clips and client status reports; fulfilling editor and blogger product requests, ordering messenger service pickups, etc.)
• Possible writing of pitches and press materials, depending on skill level
Qualifications:
• Communications or Public Relations major (Junior or Senior preferred)
• Comfortable interacting with editors and clients on a regular basis
• Able to work independently and take initiative
• Well organized, detail oriented
• Articulate, pleasant phone manner
• Social media savvy
• Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point). Photoshop a plus
• Prior PR or office experience
